Our first reading assignment was "The Challenge to Become," by Dallin H. Oaks it was a great article and would recommend you read it, as it will help in the way you may treat others and how you view your life.
In class we talked about how rivers usually have debris floating down them and that they are usually going with the flow with no trouble. At times their may be a log that decides to resit against the flow and becomes a barrier for the other items following. This log in a sense helps to purify the rest of the river because it stops items reaching the resrt of the river. Now with families we all have our different backgrounds and ways that we are raised, but we could be like that log and be the barrier to purify and help those around us by helping to block out the "debris" around us. It is not always easy and can be difficult when pressure is being built up especially when those who we love do not always support or agree with us. But this is part of "Becoming Something" it involves change and sometimes going down the path that is less taken, which can be lonely at times and scary, but well worth the journey when the end is reached. Not only is the end a sweet experience, but the lives we may touch while taking the journey. So I would challenge all to evaluate your lives to see what path you are taking anb just what is it that you are "Becoming"! If you do not like it than change the path and resist the flow of the world.
